Wilberth Gonzalez is a proud Mexican American costume designer based in New York City. Raised in South Texas, his upbringing and cultural roots deeply inform his artistic voice. His design sensibility is grounded in bold color, rich texture, and a signature balance of camp and glamour. With a background in painting, Wilberth approaches costume design with a painter’s eye, using fabric as a source of light and shadow to create bold visual depth.

His credits include Real Women Have Curves (Broadway), Ginger Twinsies, A Kidman Carol, The Tempest at Shakespeare in the Park, and operatic work with the New World Symphony, as well as international productions of Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and The Jungle Book. His work has also appeared on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Wilberth is the 2025 recipient of the TDF Ascending Artist Award and earned an Emmy nomination for Moon Knight. Upcoming projects include El Último Sueño de Frida y Diego at the Metropolitan Opera, co-designed with Jon Bauser.
